"November 2013 I went to Uruguay to collect fish in the wild. This was my first real collecting trip.

From the first minute we started to catch fish until the last day, I was amazed at how many different kinds of fishes are in Uruguay. Every location we went, there were species I had never seen before. It did not matter if it was small pond, small creek, big lake or river, it was full of fish.

Looking under stones for Ancistrus and plecos, catching barracuda, piranha and pikes on a fishing rod, getting Gymnogeophagus and other cichids in a castnet, or scooping in the water plants for knifefish, tetras, Loricaria and livebearers, Uruguay is just a fantastic place to catch fish.

We were catching thousands of fishes, but also a few snakes and turtles. The biggest catch of the trip was a cayman that came into the net - that was an extra bonus.

Felipe made this trip truly amazing. His knowledge of the fishes and the nature were outstanding. Five stars out of five, the nature with all its creations big and small, the friendly people, the too-good food that was not possible to stop eating and all these fishes made this trip truly fantastic."
